# Logging

Pritunl stores log information in the MongoDB database. This allows viewing the logs for all the servers in the cluster. In the event that an error occurs when there is no connection to the database the logs will write to `/var/log/pritunl.log`

### Viewing Logs

Logs can be viewed by either running using the `pritunl logs` command or using the log viewer in the web console. More information on the logs command can be found in the commands section.

### Log Format

All log messages start with the name of the Pritunl host, time stamp for log message and log level.
