Zones

Groups of nodes in a region that have inter-dependent resources

Zones are used to isolate inter-dependent nodes within a datacenter. This could be nodes sharing the same network switch or shared storage. It can also designate groups of nodes that may be unavailable at the same time due to maintenance. Typically this will only be used for large scale deployments.
